Irinej said in his message, ahead of Orthodox Christmas, that the crime that saw body parts of missing Kosovo Serbs sold for money was taking place with the knowledge of representatives of the international community.

The patriarch said that this was one of the most serious examples of violations of rights of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija, and described it as taking place "along with icy, indifferent, and in many cases accomplice-like silence of representatives of the international community".

"But truth and divine justice always have the last word. That is what the birth of Christ guarantees to us, we feel that and know that," Irinej said in his message.

The Kosovo organ trade was recently addresses in a report written by Council of Europe Rapporteur Dick Marty, where he named ethnic Albanian leaders of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) as being responsible for the crimes.
