1 in 3 UK College Muslims Support Killing for Islam, 40% Want Sharia

Is America paying attention?  Once again news out of the United Kingdom warns us of the spread and influence of radical views among high percentages of Muslims.  While the Left continues to claim that fears of Islamo-facism and the spread of Sharia is a red herring, our neighbors over the pond are living in the realization of those fears.

Of the many recent leaks by Wikileaks, one  involved some research the American government utilized in early 2009.  In hopes of better understanding Muslim college students in the UK, our government paid attention to a survey done by The Centre for Social Cohesion out of England.  The study questioned both Muslim and non-Muslim students in 30 British universities on their views of Islam.  The CSC survey is a massive report called “Islam on Campus”. 

The statistic that stood out the most was that 32% of Muslim college students believe it is OK to kill someone in the name of religion.  Most who held that belief said that killing is perfectly fine if you are defending your religion.  So it shouldn’t be surprising that another CSC study (done in July 2010) revealed that 1/3 of terrorist attacks done by British Muslims the last ten years was done by people who had attended universities.

Other parts of the CSC research found that 40% of Muslims want Sharia law in the UK for Muslims.  1/3 of those want a worldwide Caliphate based on Sharia.  There are already over 85 Sharia law schools in the British Isles, so their wish is becoming true.  Moreover, 54% of those surveywanted a Muslim Party to be represented in Parliament.

I would like to see similar research done on Muslim college students in America.  I think the Left would be shocked to hear the results.  When you study some of the acts of the Muslim Student Association all over campuses in America, you would not be so surprised.  Many of those groups have promoted radical speakers and terrorist groups like Hamas.  Yet Time Magazine recently called banning Sharia in America part of “the rise of Islamaphobia”  over something in which “there’s no risk”.

And in case you are thinking there may be a problem in England, but not the United States then you have forgotten the recent past.  Do you remember Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab?  He’s the guy that tried to blow up a plane in the Unites States about a year ago with an underwear bomb.  Umar is a former University College London student.  In fact, he was the president of the school’s Islamic Society.  As president, Umar put fellow students through martial arts and paintball training.  He had speakers tell the group that “dying while fighting Jihad is one of the surest way to paradise.”

Umar will not be the last terrorist we have in America trained in the colleges of the UK.  And is it a leap of logic to understand that in the not-so-distant future we will have growing terrorist attacks from Jihadists out of U.S. colleges?  We continue to get warning signs from the British, and I do hope we are learning to listen.
